Our November 2024 monthly meeting marked an important moment of progress and leadership transition for the Mississippi Wing of the Commemorative Air Force.
Officer Elections & Leadership Update

The day began with the nomination and election of officers whose terms were either up for election or re-election. We are proud to share that all officers retained their current seats with the exception of one key update: DJ Powell was elected as our new Operations Officer, bringing fresh energy and leadership to the role. We’re excited to have DJ step into this position and look forward to his contributions in the coming months.
Construction Update & Phase Two Launch
Following officer elections, members received a comprehensive update on the final stages of our current construction projects. Even more exciting, the Wing is now officially moving forward with Phase Two of our growth plan. This next phase will focus on the build-out of our new museum space and pilot’s lounge, which will be located upstairs in the newly expanded facility. These additions will further elevate our ability to educate, inspire, and serve our community.

WWII Presentation & Lunch with Jasper Welch

The meeting concluded with a special presentation by Jasper Welch, who delivered an engaging talk about the World War II history of the Madison Airport. Jasper, a longtime supporter and contributor to our educational programming, also showcased several WWII-era military items that he uses in public demonstrations. Attendees were treated to a close-up look at his WWII Jeep, adding a powerful visual element to the day’s historical storytelling.
Members enjoyed lunch together as the presentation wrapped, taking time to connect, reflect, and celebrate the continued mission of the Mississippi Wing.
