Fifty years of safe flying is more than a milestone, it represents a lifetime of experience, discipline, professionalism, and dedication to aviation.

The Mississippi Wing of the Commemorative Air Force was honored to attend the presentation of the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award to our very own Peter Michael “Pete” Vozzo, recognizing his remarkable 50 years of exemplary aviation flight experience.

Presented by the Federal Aviation Administration, the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award is one of the FAA’s most prestigious honors for pilots. It recognizes individuals who have demonstrated professionalism, skill, and a steadfast commitment to aviation safety throughout at least 50 years of flying.

Pete’s award specifically recognizes his:
“50 years of exemplary aviation flight experience, distinguished professionalism, and steadfast commitment to aviation safety.”

Reaching a milestone like this is an extraordinary accomplishment. Over five decades, aviation has undergone tremendous changes—from aircraft technology and navigation to communications, regulations, and safety standards. Through it all, Pete’s commitment to safe and professional flying has remained constant.

The award also carries a name deeply rooted in aviation history. More than a century after Orville and Wilbur Wright changed the world with powered flight, the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award honors aviators who continue their legacy through a lifetime devoted to aviation.

For those of us who work to preserve and share aviation history, it is especially meaningful to celebrate the people who have spent their lives actively contributing to that story.

Congratulations, Pete, on 50 years of safe flying and this incredibly well-deserved honor. We are proud to celebrate this remarkable achievement with you and grateful for your dedication to aviation and the example you continue to set for generations of pilots to come.
