Mississippi Wing Attends the Best Little Air Show in Tallulah/Vicksburg

Hosted by the Southern Heritage Air Foundation

On October 18–19, 2025, the Mississippi Wing of the Commemorative Air Force traveled to Tallulah, Louisiana to take part in one of the most anticipated family events of the fall: the Best Little Air Show in Tallulah/Vicksburg, hosted by the Southern Heritage Air Foundation. This two-day event combined aerial performance, ground exhibits, and patriotic purpose—drawing families, veterans, and aviation enthusiasts from across the region.

Representing the Mississippi Wing

The Mississippi Wing proudly participated in the event with several key elements:

  • A WWII-era static display featuring our military Jeep and vintage Indian motorcycle, both of which attracted strong attention from history lovers and younger guests alike.

  • A fly-in and performance by our own Eric Hollingsworth, who took to the skies in the Taylorcraft for a crowd-pleasing flight demonstration.

  • Volunteer members were on hand throughout the weekend to talk with visitors about the mission of the Commemorative Air Force and the role of the Mississippi Wing in preserving and sharing American aviation history.

A Star-Studded Lineup of Performers

This year’s air show featured a world-class roster of aerobatic and warbird acts that filled the skies and thrilled spectators of all ages:

  • Titan Aerobatic Team

  • Dan Fordice flying the legendary 1945 P-51D Mustang "Charlotte's Chariot II"

  • Kevin Coleman, Red Bull Aerobatic Pilot

  • Stephen Covington and his Pitts Fury in both solo and dual performances

  • Mark Smith’s Rollin’ Thunder Jet Truck, paired with Covington for a dual spectacle

  • Frank Kimmel in the majestic F4U Corsair

  • Ben Ausbrooks and the Skybolt

  • Rich Dawe in his Jet Provost

  • John Scherff and the T-28B

  • And the spectacular Nathan Hammond with his crowd-favorite GhostWriter Airshows routine

Activities for All Ages

Beyond the action in the air, the event included an impressive range of family-friendly features, including:

  • Pre-show displays of large-scale radio-controlled aircraft

  • Plane rides and MASH helicopter flights

  • A car show

  • A touching reunion of WWII 354th Fighter Group families

  • NASA Astro Camp STEM Zone

  • Some of the region’s best food vendors and merchandise booths

The combination of interactive exhibits and thrilling aviation displays made this event one of the most well-rounded and engaging shows of the year.

Supporting a Greater Mission

Proceeds from the air show supported several outstanding veteran and educational nonprofits, including:

  • The Southern Heritage Air Foundation

  • The Warrior Bonfire Program

  • 7 Days for the Troops

  • Purple Heart Homes

Each of these organizations plays a vital role in uplifting and honoring those who’ve served, and the Mississippi Wing was proud to contribute to that mission through our presence and participation.
