On April 18, 2026, the Mississippi Wing of the Commemorative Air Force welcomed guests from across the region for another unforgettable evening at its annual Hangar Dance in Madison, Mississippi.

Held inside the CAF hangar at Bruce Campbell Field, the event brought together aviation enthusiasts, community supporters, dancers, and history lovers for a night that celebrated the spirit, music, and camaraderie of the World War II era.

From the moment guests arrived, the hangar was transformed into a scene reminiscent of the 1940s, complete with vintage attire, patriotic décor, live big-band music, and the timeless atmosphere that has made the Hangar Dance one of the Mississippi Wing’s most beloved traditions.

Dancing the Night Away

Throughout the evening, the dance floor remained full as couples and groups danced to the sounds of live big-band music performed inside the hangar beneath the towering American flag and surrounded by historic aviation displays.

Guests embraced the spirit of the era with vintage-inspired dresses, military uniforms, suspenders, hats, and classic WWII fashion, helping bring the evening to life in a way that felt both nostalgic and meaningful.

The vintage clothing contest added even more excitement and personality to the night, showcasing the creativity and enthusiasm of attendees who fully embraced the theme and atmosphere of the event.

A Night of Community and Fellowship

More than just a dance, the event served as a celebration of community and fellowship. Friends old and new gathered around tables to enjoy food, conversation, music, and the unique opportunity to experience history in an immersive and memorable setting.

The evening highlighted the Mississippi Wing’s continued mission to preserve and share the stories, traditions, and sacrifices of those who served during World War II and beyond.

Whether guests came to dance, enjoy the music, admire the vintage fashion, or simply experience the atmosphere inside the CAF hangar, the night offered something special for everyone in attendance.

Supporting the CAF Mission

As with many Mississippi Wing events, the Hangar Dance also served a greater purpose. Proceeds from the evening helped support the Commemorative Air Force mission to Educate, Honor, and Inspire through flight and living history.

Events like the Hangar Dance allow the Mississippi Wing to continue preserving historic aircraft, sharing aviation history with future generations, and creating meaningful opportunities for the public to connect with America’s military and aviation heritage.

The Mississippi Wing extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who attended, volunteered, performed, organized, and supported this year’s Hangar Dance. The evening was a tremendous success and a wonderful reminder of the power of history, music, and community coming together under one roof.
