The Mississippi Wing of the Commemorative Air Force had the privilege of catching up with one of our very own, Peter Michael Vozzo—a valued Mississippi Wing member and helicopter pilot in Hammond, LA at car and aviation show. Vozzo shared his passion for flying the legendary Bell-47G, a helicopter as iconic as it is unforgettable. It's most commonly referred to as the "MASH" helicopter from the TV show MASH.

A Ride to Remember: The Bell-47G
The Bell-47G is a timeless piece of aviation history, and Vozzo’s enthusiasm for the aircraft was infectious. With its full open glass cockpit, flying in the Bell-47G is an experience like no other. The sensation of openness, visibility, and the hum of the rotors makes each ride thrilling and immersive. If you ever get the opportunity to fly in this remarkable machine—don’t pass it up. It’s truly one of the most unique aviation experiences you’ll ever have.
Wheels Up to Hammond, Louisiana

The Mississippi Wing also joined the Bayou State CAF Escadrille’s Car and Aviation Show in Hammond, LA for their Aviation and Car Show. Despite low ceilings that morning delaying our flight, we were eventually able to take off—and the skies cleared just in time for a beautiful day filled with vintage planes, classic cars, and great fellowship.
The event highlighted the collaborative spirit between CAF units and offered the public a chance to get up close to some of history’s important flying machines.
