NOTES FROM THE “HEAD SHED”

Last Month’s meeting saw two new members, COL John Paris and COL Dan Fordice, bring their T-6 to the hangar for the first time.  Another new member, COL George Stuebe also has a T-6 and we’ll be hoping to see more of both birds at upcoming meetings!

In addition to regular meetings, thanks to everyone who has been coming out to the Hangar to help with the Stinson over the last few months.  We’ve made a lot of progress towards her flying again, but there is still a solid month and a half to go before she takes to the sky again.  So please come on by even if only for an hour or two and do what you can to help her back into the air!

Our next meeting is Saturday, March 20th at noon.  The program will include a presentation by Mr. Sid Spiro, a survivor of the 1944 Christmas Eve sinking of the troop ship Leopoldville.  If you want a little advance info on the subject it may be found on-line:

After the meeting, we will be working to prepare the Beech for Meridian and the Stinson’s interior.

NO PHOTOS this month . . . we want you to come out in person and see the progress!!

It has been another great month of hard work on the planes!  We’ve got the engine almost hung, new tires and brakes, and have seen the panel start to take its final form . . . short of an interior, a few loose ends to tie together, and final inspection, she is a “brand new” 1941 Stinson 10A!!  We hope to have her flyable by mid-April.

The Mississippi Wing is pleased to welcome COL Dan Fabian to the ranks of CAF approved C-45 pilots.  Dan completed his check-ride with COL Ben Cunningham during February.  If you’re interested in becoming a sponsor/pilot for a CAF aircraft (Beech or Stinson), please read CAFR 60-2 or ask one of the staff on how to make it happen.

The C-45 is departing for NAS Meridian (www.MeridianAirShow.com) on Saturday morning, April 17th and returning the next day.  If you would like to ride, please contact COL Jim Barbee.
